Waterproof, reversible and built to take a landing. Traxxas XL-5, XL-2.5 and VXL-3s are the factory replacements for the RTR range; Hobbywing QuicRun brushed and brushless ESCs are the upgrade path for 1/10 and 1/8, with Seaking for boats; Castle Sidewinder and Monster X for high-power sensored setups; Spektrum Firma Smart ESCs for Arrma and Losi models, and 2-in-1 ESC/receiver units for small RTRs.

Brushed or brushless is the first question — a brushed ESC won't run a brushless motor. Then match the LiPo cell rating and motor size. The motor-and-ESC combos are cross-listed here so a matched pair turns up in the same search.
