So, while radio-controlled jet planes can be exciting, they’re not often the first stop for brand-new pilots. They tend to fly faster, need more room and give you less time to correct mistakes. A trainer aircraft or simulator is a smarter way to build control first. Once you’re comfortable with take-offs, landings and orientation, an RC jet plane becomes far more enjoyable. The key is to start with the right model, not the fastest one.

What type of motor do RC jets use?

Most electric RC jet models use an electric ducted fan (EDF).
