Stainless earns its place where ordinary steel would rust or wear: hinge pins and hinge straps, wear plates, exhaust brackets, and anything on a boat or a float plane. Flat strip comes in three widths and three thicknesses, with sheet in 4 by 10 and 6 by 12 inch pieces.

Round tube starts at 1/8 inch and solid rod fills in the small diameters. It is harder work than brass — use a fresh cut-off disc or a good hacksaw, and drill it slowly with cutting fluid.
