Humbrol No. 10 is one of the old faithfuls of the classic enamel range — a deep gloss brown whose "Service" name comes straight from British equipment tradition. It's the tin instructions mean when they call out "10": a workhorse gloss for railway wagons and structures, gloss-finished military subjects, boats, and the endless small jobs where a tough, brushable oil-based brown earns its keep. Like the whole Humbrol enamel line — which began life as bicycle-frame paint — it's built for a hard-wearing finish indoors or out.

The Airfix Callout System

Humbrol numbers are the reference system printed in Airfix instruction sheets and countless other British and European kits — so if your Bulldog, Puma or classic kit's paint guide lists "10", this is precisely the tin it's pointing at. That's the quiet advantage of stocking your paint rack by Humbrol number: the shopping list writes itself from the instructions.

Classic Solvent-Based Enamel

This is the traditional fast-drying enamel formula: high-density pigment, strong coverage, and a tough gloss film that suits handling-prone models like rolling stock and display pieces. It adheres to most plastics, wood, glass, ceramics, metal, cardboard and sealed surfaces (test a small area first on anything unusual), and a 14ml tinlet covers roughly 0.3 square metres depending on application.

Brush or Airbrush

Brush straight from the tin — two thin coats beat one thick one — or airbrush thinned with Humbrol Enamel Thinners at the usual 2 parts paint to 1 part thinner. Gloss is touch dry in 1–2 hours and hard dry within 24; recoat after 6 hours minimum, ideally overnight. Clean brushes and airbrushes with Humbrol Enamel Thinners.
