Not every tin on the rack needs a war record. Humbrol No. 38 is pure, unapologetic lime green in a high gloss — the colour you reach for when a model is meant to turn heads: custom car bodies and kit cars, slot car liveries, sports and racing accents, cycles (fitting, for a paint range that began life on bicycle frames), and the bright detail flashes that lift a build out of the everyday. When a paint guide calls for "38", this is the tin.

Brightwork Green

Lime sits at the loud end of the green family — sharper than grass green, cleaner than yellow-green — and the gloss finish is what makes it work: deep, wet-look shine on bodywork and trim. It's a natural for 1960s–70s custom and racing subjects where vivid colours ruled, for modern sports liveries, and for any project where the brief is simply fun. It also earns bench time as a mixer, brightening duller greens or pulling yellows toward citrus with other colours in the range.

Classic Solvent-Based Enamel

The traditional fast-drying Humbrol formula: high-density pigment, strong coverage, and a tough gloss film that stands up to the handling that playable and display models both get. It adheres to most plastics, wood, glass, ceramics, metal, cardboard and sealed surfaces (test a small area first on anything unusual), with a 14ml tinlet covering roughly 0.3 square metres.

Brush or Airbrush

Brush straight from the tin — two thin coats beat one thick one, and bright gloss colours reward patience doubly, since every flaw shows in a shine. Airbrush thinned with Humbrol Enamel Thinners at 2 parts paint to 1 part thinner. Gloss is touch dry in 1–2 hours and hard dry within 24; recoat after 6 hours minimum, preferably overnight. Clean up with Humbrol Enamel Thinners.
