The P9302W is the Australian version of Hornby's 4 Amp digital transformer, replacing the earlier C7038. It serves both sides of the Hornby group's range — DCC model railway controllers and Scalextric digital powerbases — making it one of the more widely used supplies in either hobby.

Unlike the smaller P9002W and P9102W wall-plug units, this is an in-line transformer with a detachable mains lead: a separate 2m AU mains cable plugs into the brick, and a 1.75m DC lead runs to your controller or powerbase. That gives considerably more reach than a wall-wart and lets you site the transformer away from the power point.

For Scalextric ARC PRO, one transformer powers up to three cars across both lanes. Running four to six cars requires a second P9302W.

Compared to the other Hornby transformers

Same 15V DC output, centre-positive polarity and 6.5/3.0mm plug as the 1A P9102W, with four times the current capacity. The P9002W is a different supply entirely — 19V DC 0.5A with a smaller 5.5/2.5mm plug — and will not fit or power these devices.
