The curved turnout is the trackplan-saver. Real railways put junctions on curves constantly; model layouts struggle to, because ordinary straight turnouts force flat tangents into flowing curves — unless the turnout itself curves. The SL-E87 diverges left with both roads curving: 1524mm (60in) nominal radius on the outside road, 762mm (30in) inside, in 256mm of length. Sweeping junctions, return loops off curves, yard throats in corners — the geometry that makes a layout flow.

Electrofrog: The Live Frog Advantage

This is the Electrofrog version — the frog (the crossing vee) is powered metal rather than dead plastic, so there's no electrical gap for short-wheelbase locos to stall on. Shunters, small steam and slow running through the junction all benefit; it's the frog type serious layouts choose. The honest half of the bargain is a little wiring care: fit insulated joiners (SL-11) on the two frog rails, and for the cleanest running switch the frog's polarity with the point motor — the PL-13 accessory switch on a PL-10 motor does exactly this job. Hand Operation Built In, Motors Ready

Peco's over-centre spring snaps the blades positively into position — flick with a finger and it holds, no lever required. For remote operation, the base takes the PL-10 point motor family directly (with the PL-13 switch stacking beneath for the frog wiring above).
