A 1:18 scale resin model of Allan Moffat's #25 Federation Insurance DeKon Chevrolet Monza, from DDA Collectibles' Real Art Replicas series — as run in the 1979 Australian Sport Sedan Championship.

Real Art Replicas is DDA's high-detail resin line. These are sealed-body display models rather than diecast playthings: no opening panels, but sharper panel gaps, finer badging and better paint depth than a diecast casting of the same subject allows. The range concentrates on Australian motorsport subjects that never get made in volume.

The Monza was never an Australian car in any real sense. DeKon Engineering in the United States built tube-frame Chevrolet Monza silhouette racers for IMSA, and Moffat brought one out to campaign in Australian Sports Sedans — a category that in the late seventies had almost no rules worth mentioning. What arrived looked like a Monza and shared essentially nothing with one. It is one of the more distinctive cars Moffat ever drove, and it has never been widely modelled.

The casting does the livery justice: metallic bronze-brown body with the yellow, orange and red angular wrap across the nose, doors and rear quarters, and the #25 roundel on the doors. Federation Insurance, BP, Goodyear, Silastic Gaskets, The Hiltons and 3MP decals are all printed, along with the yellow MOFFAT windscreen banner. Gold mesh wheels with chrome lips sit under Goodyear slicks, and the interior is fully detailed — blue roll cage, black race seat with harness, shifter, pedals and dash, all visible through clear glazing. Front air dam and rear ducktail spoiler are moulded in.

Please note: this is a sealed-body resin model. The doors, bonnet and boot do not open. Resin is more brittle than diecast metal, so handle it with care and display it rather than work it.

At 1:18 the model measures around 25cm long.
