Spectra Rides is DDA's illuminated range: Australian classics with LED headlights and tail lights built in, so the model does something on the shelf rather than just sitting there. Switch the lights on and the car reads very differently in a display cabinet, particularly in low light.

The XW Falcon 500 ute was the workhorse version — the 221 cubic inch six, badged 3.6 on the front guard, with FALCON 500 script on the tailgate and rear quarters. These were the utes that did the actual work through the early seventies, which is why fewer good ones survive than the GT sedans everyone remembers.

The casting captures it well: red body with red steel wheels and chrome hub caps, chrome bumpers, grille, side spear and window surrounds, twin wipers, mirrors, roof aerial and a tray with the wheel arches modelled inside.

Please note: this is a plastic-bodied model, not diecast metal. It requires 2 x AAA batteries, which are not included.

At 1:24 the model measures around 20cm long.
