The A02701V is Airfix's 1:32 scale set of WWII British paratroops — 14 unpainted plastic figures representing the men of the British 1st Airborne Division, in a range of poses with period equipment and weapons.

This is a genuine piece of Airfix history. The mould tools were cut in 1972, and the box artwork is William Stallion's original painting from the same year. That is what the Vintage Classics range is: kits reissued from Airfix's own back catalogue, in their period packaging, rather than new tooling made to look old.

At skill level 1 the set is aimed at beginners, and 14 figures at 1:32 makes it a straightforward first painting project — large enough to hold comfortably and to work detail into, without the fine work that smaller scales demand. Equally at home in a diorama, on a wargaming table, or as a painting exercise on its own.

The British 1st Airborne Division was formed in December 1940 to give the Allies a specialised parachute capability. Its men were marked out by the maroon beret and by a shoulder patch showing Bellerophon astride the winged horse Pegasus — an emblem that became synonymous with British airborne forces. The division served in some of the most demanding operations of the war and earned a formidable reputation.
