Despite this, it was gradually replaced by more modern Centurions and M48, and finally M60 and decommissioned in the first line. Instead, the M50 / 51 series was delegated to the mechanized reserve defense brigades.
A large number of Shermans received Chile from Israel. Others have been reclassified to various specialized versions.
