A 1/5-scale petrol car that loses radio signal at full throttle doesn't stop — it leaves. That's the problem this device exists to solve. Rovan's Gen 2 kill switch wires into your engine's ignition and gives you two layers of protection: shut the engine down from your transmitter using a spare third channel, any time, from anywhere in range — and if the radio link fails or the receiver battery runs low, the switch kills the engine automatically, no input needed. For machines with real 26cc-plus two-strokes, it's not an accessory; it's the safety equipment.

Why the Gen 2

The second-generation unit is the one to have: it operates automatically with a self-check on power-up and needs none of the fiddly channel calibration the original required — install it, bind as normal, and it simply works. Manual kill from the transmitter, automatic kill on signal loss or low receiver voltage, and automatic reset once conditions are safe.

Fitment: Almost Any Petrol RC

Per Rovan's own listing, the switch suits any RC engine with a petrol motor, magneto ignition and a stop switch — which covers the whole large-scale mainstream: HPI Baja 5B, SS, 5T and 5SC, Losi 5ive-T, FG Marder, King Motor, and Rovan's own range. Requirements on the radio side: a transmitter with a spare third channel to assign the kill function to. If your engine has a manual stop switch on the ignition, this replaces its job — remotely.

Worth Knowing

Many large-scale clubs and bash groups mandate a working kill switch before a car turns a wheel — if you're joining organised running, this is the ticket in. And the low-battery shut-off is only as reliable as the receiver pack feeding it: pair the install with a healthy battery and it's watching your back every run.
