White is the hardest-working colour on any hobby bench, and No. 301 is the version most modellers reach for most often — a silk-finish pure white matched to RAL 9010. The satin sheen sits in the sweet spot between Revell's gloss and matt whites: realistic on airliner fuselages, coach sides, ship superstructures, caravans and countless plastic surfaces that would look toy-like in full gloss but lifeless in dead matt. It's also the practical choice for one very modelling-specific reason — decals settle noticeably better on a silk surface than a matt one.

The Right White for the Job

Revell offers white in three finishes, and choosing between them matters: gloss No. 04 for high-shine finishes, matt No. 05 for flat scale surfaces, and this silk No. 301 for everything in between. If a kit's instructions call for "301", this is the tin — and if you're planning to decal over a white base, the silk finish gives markings a smooth surface to bond to, reducing the silvering that plagues decals applied over matt paint. A final coat of matt clear can always knock the sheen back afterwards if the subject demands it.

Strong Coverage, Classic Enamel

White is notoriously the weakest-covering colour in any paint system, which is where Email Color's synthetic resin enamel formula earns its reputation — good opacity even over contrasting plastic, a smooth self-levelling finish, and no risk to polystyrene surfaces. It adheres to plastic, wood and metal without special preparation, and mixes freely with the rest of the Email Color range (signal colours excepted) for tinting and custom shades.

Brush or Airbrush

Use straight from the tinlet for brushing, or dilute with Revell Color Mix for spraying — Color Mix doubles as a drying retarder in the airbrush. Recoat after 4–6 hours, full cure in 24 hours. Clean brushes with Revell Painta Clean and spray equipment with Revell Airbrush Clean.

Enamel, Not Acrylic

Note the chemistry: 32301 is the enamel version. If you work in water-based acrylics, the same White Silk is available as Aqua Color 36301.
