Tank Grey No. 78 is Revell's rendition of Panzergrau — the dark grey that defined German armour in the early years of WWII. If you're building a Panzer III rolling into France, a StuG on the Eastern Front before the switch to dark yellow, or any early-war German vehicle, this is the tin the instructions mean when they call out "78". Beyond the panzers, its deep neutral grey earns constant use for tyres, tracks, engine blocks and mechanical details across every genre of modelling.

The Early-War German Armour Colour

Matched to RAL 7024 Graphite Grey, No. 78 delivers the dark, slightly warm grey that reads convincingly as Panzergrau at scale. It's the standard callout for German tanks, half-tracks and soft-skins in 1939–43 schemes, and pairs naturally with the rest of the Email Color military range for tools, stowage and tracks. Like all Email Color shades (signal colours excepted), it intermixes freely — lighten it for scale effect on smaller subjects or fade it for weathered finishes.

Classic Enamel Formula

Email Color is Revell's synthetic resin enamel, proven over decades — kind to polystyrene, strong coverage even over light surfaces, and a smooth self-levelling matt finish that suits armour subjects perfectly. It adheres to plastic, wood and metal without special preparation. Cross-referencing from a Humbrol callout? No. 78 corresponds to Humbrol's 67 Tank Grey.

Brush or Airbrush

Use straight from the tinlet for brushing, or dilute with Revell Color Mix for spraying — Color Mix doubles as a drying retarder in the airbrush. Recoat or apply a second colour after 4–6 hours, with complete drying in 24 hours. Clean brushes with Revell Painta Clean and spray gear with Revell Airbrush Clean.

Enamel, Not Acrylic
