The clean way to get power to the track — no soldering iron anywhere near your rails. Each PL-80 joiner comes with approximately 204mm (8 inches) of wire pre-soldered on, so a power feed is as simple as substituting a pair of these for standard joiners wherever a feed is needed, drilling a small hole, and dropping the wires through the baseboard. No melted sleepers, no dry joints, no soldering skills required — and a factory joint that's more reliable than most of us manage under a layout.

Fitment: Code 100 and Code 124

The PL-80 fits Code 100 rail — Peco OO/HO Setrack and Code 100 Streamline, plus O-16.5/On30 — and Code 124 O gauge bullhead. Running Code 75 finescale (or Code 70/83)? You want the PL-81 instead — same product, sized for the finer rail. Rail code is everything with joiners: the right one grips tight for solid electrical contact, which is the whole point of a power feed.

Wired for Good Practice

Each pack contains eight pre-wired joiners — four red, four black — encouraging the two-colour wiring discipline that makes under-board fault-finding painless years later. The 204mm tails pass through most baseboards with length to spare, then extend to the controller with Peco PL-38 wire via PL-39 terminal blocks for a fully solder-free installation. One tip from experienced hands: separate the joiners cleanly with wire cutters rather than bending them apart — a clean cut end slides onto the rail much more easily.

Feed Little and Often

On larger layouts, multiple feeds beat one: rail joiners alone lose conductivity over time, so dropping a pair of PL-80s every metre or two — and on each electrically separate section — keeps locomotives running smoothly everywhere. At four pairs a pack, one pack wires a modest layout; bigger boards happily use several.
