Metal conducting rail joiners in nickel silver, supplied in a pack of 24. These hold rail ends in alignment and carry current across the join, which is what keeps a layout running reliably as track ages and oxidises.

One part covers a lot of ground. They suit both Code 55 and Code 80 rail, and work across N gauge, OO-9 British narrow gauge and TT — so you don't need to know your rail height before ordering, and a single pack serves layouts that mix scales on the same track system.

Nickel silver is used rather than steel because it doesn't rust and its oxide stays conductive, so joints keep working where a plated steel joiner would eventually go high-resistance. On N gauge in particular, where current draw is small and contact areas are tiny, that matters more than it does in larger scales.
