The Twistlock point motor from the PECO Lectrics range, supplied here with the twin microswitch attachment fitted for the installations where switching matters as much as motion — live frog (Electrofrog) polarity changing, signal operation, or control panel indicator lights, with two switches on board to handle more than one job at once.

The microswitch unit attaches in the same tool-free spirit as everything else in the system: it twist-locks directly onto the motor body, no brackets or adhesives. The motor's own installation is the Twistlock signature — a supplied template marks three small holes drilled from above, mounting studs fix through the two outer holes, the drive pin drops through the centre hole and the turnout's tie bar, and the motor twists and locks into place from below. It removes and refits repeatedly in perfect alignment, arrives pre-wired with no soldering needed, and the drive pin reaches through baseboards up to 15mm thick. An extra operating bar and stud spacers are included for surface mounting where there's no under-board access.

Compatibility spans all Peco turnouts up to O gauge and many other manufacturers' points. The solenoid operates from a standard 16V accessory supply (up to 3A on firing) and pairs well with a capacitor discharge unit for crisp, coil-friendly switching. If you're running Electrofrog track, this is the version of the Twistlock to buy — frog polarity switching is the microswitch's headline duty, and buying it fitted costs less than adding the PL-1005 switch later.
