Where colour vibrancy meets a flawless surface. This is the last coat before paint on the builds that are judged on their finish — Mr. Hobby pitch it specifically at character models, car models and figure prototypes where the colours need to sing. Two things make that work at once: 1500 is the finishing grade, laying down the smoothest possible film with minimal build, and white is the base that lets bright colour reach full saturation instead of being dulled by grey underneath.

That combination matters most where both halves are non-negotiable. A candy or bright gloss finish on a car body needs a white ground for the colour and a glass-flat surface for the shine — get either wrong and the whole panel shows it. Figure prototypes are the same: vivid skin and clothing tones over a base fine enough not to soften a sculpted eyelid. 170ml, enough for a full body and panels.

What this can isn't: it's not a filler. 1500 minimises build by design, so it belongs after your sanding and repair work, not instead of it. Spraying 1500 over a seam line will tint the flaw, not fix it — and you'll find it again under the top coat.

Tip: Do your flaw inspection before this coat, not after. White is the worst colour for showing up surviving seams and scratches — everything disappears against it under normal light. Prime in grey first, find and fix everything, then lay white 1500 over the top as the final base. It's an extra step and it's the one that separates a clean gloss finish from a disappointing one.

Understanding the numbers: the grade is coarseness. 500 heavy filling, 1000 the standard working grade, 1200 finer for gloss finishes, 1500 the finishing grade — this can. Lower number, more filling; higher number, smoother surface.

Three white cans — which one? Easiest way to remember it is fill, cover, finish.

White Surfacer 1000 (B-511) — white that fills. Use it when scratches and seam lines are the problem.
Base White 1000 (B-518) — white that covers. Use it when dark plastic is showing through and your colours come out wrong.
Finishing Surfacer 1500 White (B-529) — white that finishes. Use it as the final smooth base once the surface is already right.
