The 14x12 sits in APC's 120 Pattern range, suiting sport and pattern aircraft where a higher pitch trades some static thrust for speed.

Pitch is the number that matters when choosing between props of the same diameter. A 14x12 is a relatively high-pitch prop for its size — it will give you more airspeed than a 14x8 or 14x10 on the same engine, at the cost of acceleration and vertical performance.
