The same trusted Tamiya surface primer, in the can you actually want when the subject is big. 180ml gives you roughly 80% more primer than the standard tin — enough to lay a consistent base over a 1/24 car body, a 1/32 airframe, or a full armour hull without the seam you inevitably get when a can runs dry halfway through a panel.

Formulated for ABS and styrene and equally happy on metal parts, it atomises fine enough to preserve rivets, panel lines and fabric texture while still filling the faint scratches left by sanding sticks. The light grey tone reads true under mid and dark top coats, and turns a Frankenstein of tan sprue, white resin and brass fret into one honest surface you can actually judge.

Tip: On large panels, keep the can moving and overlap each pass by about half its width — stopping mid-panel is what causes tide lines. Warm the can in hand-hot water first and the spray pattern gets noticeably finer.

Which primer do I need? This is the standard Surface Primer in the large 180ml can — identical formula to 87026, just more of it. If you're after the finer-atomising version for delicate subjects, that's the Fine Surface Primer L (87064).
