The formulation is the reason to pick SMS over the usual suspects: the oil-based paint is gentler on styrene than comparable enamel hobby washes, cutting the risk of the crazing and stress-cracking that stronger solvents can inflict on bare or thinly painted plastic. One technique note straight from SMS: always seal your paintwork with a gloss clear coat (their PL09 Gloss Clear is the matched product) before applying the wash.
