Description:

Unlike the D-2 aircraft and their tropical version, the D-4 (they were first called Ju 88D-2 / Trop), the Ju 88D-1 reconnaissance cameras were located not in the rear bomb bay, but behind it in the fuselage. Two photo faces were located one after the other to the right of the longitudinal axis; however, there were three photo installations inside the fuselage. For some reason, the third camera (to the left of the axis for the flight) was not mounted on the D-1 and the window in the casing was not cut for it. It is curious that the prototype of the A-4 bomber, which made its first flight on November 1, 1940, was converted into a reconnaissance aircraft on the stocks, and, strictly speaking, it is difficult to say which of the vehicles appeared earlier: Ju 88A-4 or Ju 88D-1.
