Humbrol No. 15 is the deep one — a gloss blue dark enough to read almost black until the light catches it, which is exactly what makes it a favourite for bodywork. It's the classic choice for elegant car finishes, boat hulls and any subject that wants richness and depth rather than brightness, and when a kit's paint guide calls for "15", this is the tin it means. Like the whole Humbrol enamel range, it lays down a tough, high-gloss oil-based film that stands up to handling.

A Bodywork Blue

Very dark blues are the connoisseur's alternative to black on vehicle subjects — they keep their shadows alive where black goes flat, and gloss Midnight Blue over a well-prepared surface delivers that showroom depth straight from the tin. It's equally at home on boat hulls, uniform details and the darker end of railway and commercial vehicle work, and it mixes with the rest of the enamel range for custom shades if a subject needs the blue nudged lighter or greener.

Classic Solvent-Based Enamel

The traditional fast-drying Humbrol formula: high-density pigment, strong coverage, and a durable gloss finish suited to models that get picked up. It adheres to most plastics, wood, glass, ceramics, metal, cardboard and sealed surfaces (test a small area first on anything unusual), with a 14ml tinlet covering roughly 0.3 square metres.

Brush or Airbrush

Brush straight from the tin — two thin coats beat one thick one, and that discipline matters doubly for a deep gloss, where thick coats show every flaw. Airbrush thinned with Humbrol Enamel Thinners at 2 parts paint to 1 part thinner. Gloss is touch dry in 1–2 hours and hard dry within 24; recoat after 6 hours minimum, preferably overnight. Clean brushes and airbrush with Humbrol Enamel Thinners.
