Every conversion project reaches the moment where a part must be cut cleanly — a control surface dropped, a figure's arm repositioned, a hull section separated — and the width of the cut determines whether the join afterwards looks like surgery or like damage. These saws exist for that moment. Photo-etched from 0.1mm SUS304 stainless steel, they cut a kerf so thin that parts go back together with almost nothing lost, where a standard razor saw's blade would eat a visible gap out of the joint.

Five Blades, One Job: Precision

The set contains four straight saws in varied profiles plus one curved saw, covering straight separation cuts, work in confined angles, and curved cuts that straight blades can't follow. The blades are convenient for exactly the classic modification tasks — cutting away aircraft control surfaces to reposition flaps and elevators, separating and re-posing 1/35 figure parts — as well as running crisp panel lines.

Fold-Over Grips and Knife-Handle Compatibility

Each blade includes a grip section that folds over to stiffen the saw for freehand use. Better still, the blades are designed to mount in the handle of Tamiya's Modeler's Knife (Item 74040), turning them into properly-handled precision saws — if you own the knife, these blades slot straight into your existing tool.

Cutting or Scribing? Know Your Saw

This set (74094) is the cutting saw of Tamiya's pair — sized for separating parts and removing surfaces. Its sibling, Fine Craft Saws II (74097), has smaller, finer-pitched teeth optimised for scribing and deepening panel lines. If your main use is surface detail rather than separation, the II is the better match; for conversions and cutting, this is the one.
