Tamiya 35393 Schwimmwagen Type 166 (Wide Wheel Version) 1/35 scale plastic model kit recreates the German amphibious vehicle in detailed miniature form. This kit complements Tamiya’s earlier German Schwimmwagen kit and depicts the wide wheel version, fitted with wider tyres for improved off-road performance, along with extra equipment and two figures.

Developed by the German Wehrmacht for use in Europe’s river crossings and wet terrain, the Schwimmwagen was an amphibious military vehicle based on the Ferdinand Porsche-designed Kübelwagen. Powered by a 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 25hp, it could reach speeds of up to 80km/h on land. In the water, a manually lowered three-blade propeller allowed speeds of up to 10km/h. While many Schwimmwagens used narrower 133mm tyres due to material shortages, the wide wheel version featured 200mm tyres for improved off-road capability.
